Baby Jogger Carrycots

You can use your Baby Jogger City Elite or Summit XC from birth with the standard seat fully reclined or by fitting an optional Carrycot which converts your Baby Jogger into a 'pram' for the first few months.

There are now two Baby Jogger Carrycots - Deluxe or Compact.

Compact Carrycot

The new Baby Jogger Compact Carrycot is only a little smaller than the Deluxe Carrycot but it is better suited to the smaller City Mini model, it mounts slightly lower down. It is cheaper than the Deluxe but it isn't as plush, lacks some of the manufacturing detail and extra features - for example it does not include the ability to mount a car seat. It isn't as rigid or robust a construction. In our opinion it is perhaps better suited to the budget City Mini model than the City Elite or the Summit XC models. It is available in a wider range of colours than just Black. 'Budget' is perhaps a better description than 'Compact', it photographs well !

Deluxe Carrycot

Is is the Deluxe Carrycot is the one we include with some of our pushchair packages. The Deluxe Carrycot provides slightly more spacious and comfortable accomodation, robust constrution uses the sun hood as a carrying handle (confident and well balanced) avoiding the need for strap handles over the carrycot apron which make loading and unloading more fiddly. The Deluxe Carrycot mounting system includes the opportunity to also fit a car seat.

The carrycot can either be fitted onto a bare pushchair frame having first removed all of the seat & sun hood or just the sun hood alone - retaining the main seat.

Everyone uses their pushchair differently so there is no hard and fast rule as to whether you should buy a carrycot but here are a few of the benefits parents typically want to enjoy:

lay flat position - health professionals recommend that new born babies should lay flat if possible.

direct view of the baby - the carrycot is rear facing, you can see your baby and your baby can see you (once they can focus that far !)

less vulnerable position - higher and less accessible position protects from small children and dogs, unwelcome attention, unwanted germs, car fumes etc.

daytime travel bed' - use independent of the pushchair in the home, at friends or relatives as a mobile daytime cot (NOT for night time use - different regulations apply)

'portability' - carry the baby in the carrycot and do it securely with one hand

Baby Jogger have done a good job in the design and manufacture their carrycot with some top quality features in all but one respect !

fits easily in seconds - once you have the pushchair set up in carrycort mode, i.e. the mounting brackets fitted, then you can easily clip the carrycot on or off the mounting bracket with simply trigger operated security catches

removable top cover - gives protection from cold or damp weather or can be opened out when its fine for good ventilation

fully lined and padded interior (including the top cover) for comfort and warmth

integrated insect net (Deluxe Carrycot only) - lightweight netting which can be quickly added or zipped off the sun hood

removable & washable mattress

lockable position sun hood (Deluxe Carrycot only) - the front of the sun hood is also the carrying handle, when raised it locks into position and cannot be simply blown down by the wind ! but it is easy for you to unlock it to fold down when you want to (note the Compact Carrycot has a more basic system which cannot be locked !)

car seat adaptor included (Deluxe Carrycot only) - the support bracket for the carrycot can also be used to mount a car seat - to switch between carrycot & car seat mode (it is not ideal between standard seat & car seat mode as the standard seat fabric is poorly tensioned)

no raincover ! - Baby Jogger do not provide a separate Rain Cover for their carrycots

the pushchair cannot be folded with the carrycot attached

DO NOT USE to transport your baby in a car - an approved infant car seat must be used

Normal bedding can be used in the Carrycot or the Sheet & Blanket Set

Lambskin Stroller Fleece - for real luxury, whilst it's really intended for the standard seat it also fits the Carrycot

This 'budget' carrycot is primarily intended for use on the City Mini model although it can also be fitted onto the City Mini, City Elite or Summit XC pushchairs

As a budget carrycot the Compact Carrycot isn't as plush or as robust as the Deluxe model and it does not include the ability to fit a Car Seat but it is a better fit on the City Mini model than the Deluxe carrycot, and like all Baby jogger products is well made !
