Mountain Buggy Terrain XL
The world is a big place with lots to see and hear and smell and touch. So lets get out there and be part of it ! If you're still a small person but too big for an ordinary pushchair, and a chair with wheels won't get you where you want to go, then maybe a Mountain Terrain XL would be the answer.
 
Sadly Mountain Buggy have stopped making this model !, we recommend the Advance Mobility Spirit as a suitable replacement for some users.
Most children grow out of pushchairs because the distance between the base of the seat and the footplate is too small for their longer leg. For most makes of pushchair the increased weight is also a limiting factor but not so for the superior build quality of the Mountain Buggy with a maximum payload of 35kg.

You can buy the Terrain XL in two packages- XL - a complete unit with everything for a 4 year old to slim 8 year old
- XL Lite - an intermediary step for a 4 to 5 or 6 year old
Or if you already own a Mountain Buggy Terrain then you can upgrade it:- XL Upgrade - a conversion kit for the Mountain Buggy Terrain you already own for a 4 year old to slim 8 year old
- XL Lite Upgrade - a conversion kit for the Mountain Buggy Terrain you already own for a 4 to 5 year old
(Please note that due to minor changes in the frame design the upgrade kits are ideally suited to the new Kiddy Board compatible Terrain frame produced from April 2003, for earlier models please call us for advice.)
And we also do a package deals so that you can buy a Mountain Buggy Terrain to use now for a 3 month to 4 year old together with a Terrain XL Conversion Kit for later on.
Please note that the ages given are for guidance only using NHS average height and weight statistics - but an large child may out grow it before 8 years (the width of the pushchair is the main limiting factor). The tall sun canopy (& longer storm cover) will only work for up to say 7 years old, after that you will need to dress the child in appropriate weather gear, e.g. waterproof clothing by Togz
Whilst it is common for a child of 8 to be still using a Terrain XL which was purchased several years earlier it would be unusual the pushchair to be purchased for a child over say 6 1/2 years due to the limited time left that they will fit into it. For a child of 6 plus the Baby Jogger Independence will provide more growth room.
The Mountain Buggy Terrain XL is only available in Navy Blue.
A Kiddy Board can be added to the Terrain XL for a younger child to stand on, although it won't work well off road on soft ground.
Due to the specialist nature of the Mountain Buggy Terrain XL and in order to keep prices down we regret that there are no brochures produced for it, information is only available on the internet.
The Terrain XL is a customised version of the Mountain Buggy Superbug, including special tyres and Enhanced Puncture Protection which in our opinion are essential for a heavier child.
Special Needs
The Mountain Buggy Terrain XL may be suitable for some, but not all, children with special needs. The Terrain XL is designed specifically for children with special needs and may be purchased VAT Free under certain conditions if the child is eligible for VAT Relief, in addition we may be able to supply the Terrain XL under the Wheelchair Voucher Scheme. IMPORTANT NOTE
Whilst the Terrain XL may be used for a child with special needs the hammock style seat makes it unsuitable for a child who requires postural managment support, if in doubt please seek the advice of your physiotherapist.
