We have now had the opportunity to review the new 2010 Phil & Teds Mountain Buggy, we regret that we lack confidence in the new product and have therefore decided to discontinue it.

Mountain Buggy was bought by Phil & Teds in Spring 2009 and production moved from New Zealand to China from October 1st - DO NOT assume that simply because they will be made in China that the quality will be lower. Chinese factories can make top quality products or they can make poor quality - it depends on what you ask them to make... We are assuming that Phil & Teds will have asked them to make top quality and we look forward to confirming this once we have seen some !

Stocks currently (Oct 2009) available in the UK are the original Mountain Buggy products made in New Zealand, the new models manufactured in China will not be available until 2010 and supplies may be limited in the first instance.

Although the models appear to be broadly the same as those currently available there will be some changes. Please be aware that the ranges available in the UK many differ from the ones on the New Zealand website - so far we know:

New Brand Logo - not hugely different but if 'badges' are important to you and you want matching logos across all of your MB products then be aware of this as supplies of the old logo are limited and not all products with new logo will be available immediately as of day 1.

Bumper Bar - currently an optional accessory, will be included as standard with all single and double pushchairs

Storm Cover - currently included with all models, will be an optional accessory at extra cost (!?) It is likely that we will include it in most of our packages...at least until global warming has got a bit worse.

Fabric Colours - out go the designer ranges - Coco/Baroque/College Stripe and the colours Plum, Charcoal & Sand. There is a new colour Chilli which may be what we currently call Red or may be a different shade (look out for accessory mismatches) and a new colour - Flint

Integrated Sun Visor - built into the sun hood on all models. It looks as if this will be in addition to a new [less detailed] Sun Cover which will replace the existing UV SunShade

DUO - the Double models will be called Duo rather than Double or Twin

Travel System - the new name for a Car Seat Adaptor

Car Seat Adaptors for Double Pushchairs - sorry - 'DUO Travel Systems'. This is a new feature which has not previously been available.

Swift Carrycot - there isn't a carrycot for the current Swift at the moment so this is new (not that we stock the Swift model)

Twin Carrycot - for the Duo (Double) pushchair, will only be available in Black

Warranty - the new models will have a 1 Year Warranty for the original purchaser, this replaces the 3 Year Transferrable Warranty on current models (which was only introduced in 2008 anyway). The warranty is only valid in the country of purchase it is no longer an International Warranty. Although this doesn't look as good we suspect that the quality of manufacture in China will be the key issue. Mountain Buggy products command higher prices because the brand has an excellent reputation for quality and durability it isn't in their interest to lose that. Note that the new UK distributor of the Mountain Buggy (Out n About Ltd) will no longer collect direct from you or re-deliver direct to you anything under the warranty - part/accessory/pushchair - they will only collect/deliver from the retailer you bought the pushchair. So if you have a problem with your pushchair (rare) then you would need to send it either to us or to them and they will not return it to you they will only send it to us. They will not refund either your costs or ours.

Price Changes - not huge, relatively small adjustments. Difficult to say exactly how much due to the change of specification - added Bumper Bar but no Storm Cover

Brand Motto - the previous Mountain Buggy motto was "live life everyday', the new motto is 'life without limit' - don't you just love it !
