It is unrealistic to think that you will never get a puncture. |
Some of our customers tell us that they have never had a puncture after two years of serious off road use, but this is very much the exception. Most people get punctures, some people get lots of punctures. The pushchairs are fitted with good quality bicycle tyres but just like a bicycle any pneumatic tyre can get a puncture. And it's not just countryside walkers who suffer, in the summer gardeners get their hedge trimmers out and litter urban pavements with thorns. We now fit Enhanced Puncture Protection FREE to Mountain Buggy Terrain & Urban pushchairs purchased online. For a single pushchair Thorn Resistant Inner Tubes (£15) & Sureride Anti-Puncture Tape (£7) Fitted (£3) this is worth £25. For a double pushchair Thorn Resistant Inner Tubes (£20) & Sureride Anti-Puncture Tape (£9) Fitted (£4) this is worth £33. Whilst this does not guarantee that you won't suffer any punctures (only solid tyres will do that and the ride quality is very poor) it does reduce the risk very significantly

A set of three seriously heavy duty inner tubes.Although they are sold to us as 'thornproof' only solid tyres can be 100% guaranteed never to puncture. We have fitted these to many pushchairs and sold hundreds of them for customers to fit and so far we have received only four reports of a puncture ! Heavyweight adds about 150g per wheel, approx. 1lb to the weight of the pushchair.

| Sureride Anti-Puncture Tape
Enough for up to four wheelsCompared to the Flat-Away Kevlar Tape the Sureride Anti-Puncture Tape is a 'low tech' solution ... crude but possibly more effective in the low speed wheel of a pushchair. It might not be as good in the high speed wheel of a bicycle. Sureride Anti-Puncture Tape is a flexible plastic strip with reinforced centre which fits between the tyre and the inner tube and offers considerable protection against sharp objects. We can fit the tape to your pushchair for an additional £3

Enough for THREE pushchair wheelsFlat-Away is made of Kevlar by Dupont it's the stuff bullet proof vests are made from ! Flat-Away is intended for bicycle wheels so it comes in rolls sufficient for one bicycle wheel - which is enough for two pushchair wheels. We will supply one and a half rolls so that you can fit to all three pushchair wheels.

 | Liquid Puncture Sealant
 
Sold in 1 litre bottles complete with valve tool.We have discontinued the liquid puncture sealant because it isn't very effective. It sounds like a good idea - a liquid which is squirted into the inner tube and which plugs puncture holes as they occur - but in practice it doesn't work very well. The manufacturers advise us that it is formulated for high pressure, high speed bicycle wheels. Because the pushchair wheels are low pressure, low speed you need to double the quantity to about 250ml per wheel have any benefit - and this amount is a small lake sloshing about in your wheel !
